Renovation Update #2

The Dining Room and kitchen renovation is plowing ahead at full steam. Walls are being framed and the above-ceiling work is being performed. The serving area and the much-anticipated tray drop off have been framed. New kitchen equipment is starting to be delivered and installed, including the new walk in freezer and exhaust hood.

In addition to the primary focus on the Dining Room, work has been done on the terrace, the Adalman Gallery, and the Father’s Club Lounge. Drains have been added under a waterproofing sealant that has been installed on the terrace and preparations are being made to replace the brick pillars. The Adalman Gallery is stripped down and a hole opened up in the wall to create access to a set of stairs. The stairs—which previously connected the kitchen to the hallway behind the mailroom—will create access from the gallery to the bathrooms below. In the Father’s Club Lounge area, the mailroom walls and the lounge paneling have been removed.

We are continuing to work with Montgomery County on the permitting for the front entry and administrative hallways. We will be meeting with county officials this week and will have more information to share soon. While the timeline for completion of that portion of the renovation will be impacted, the Dining Room and kitchen will be ready as planned! Given the permit delays, we are uncertain how much of the front entry and administrative hallways will be open at the start of the School year. We will be posting updates throughout the summer.
